Brewing Guide

Mastering the Perfect Steep

To fully appreciate the complex flavours of Your Fit Keto Tea, proper preparation is essential. The way you brew your tea can significantly impact the extraction of its aromatic compounds and its final taste. This guide is designed to help you get the most out of every bag, ensuring a consistently excellent cup every time you brew.

Water & Temperature

The first two variables every brewer must master before the tea bag even touches the cup.

The Importance of Water Quality

The quality of the water you use is just as important as the tea itself. For the best results, use filtered water to avoid any metallic or chlorine tastes that can overshadow the delicate herbs.

If you are in a hard water area like parts of London, a good filter can make a noticeable difference in the clarity and flavour of your tea. Hard water carries dissolved minerals that coat the palate and mute the subtler notes of ginger and dandelion.

A simple jug filter is sufficient for most households. If you want to go further, a bottled spring water with low mineral content will let the blend's character come through without competition.

Temperature Matters

Green tea and delicate herbs should never be brewed with boiling water, as this can scorch the leaves and result in a bitter taste. We recommend letting your kettle sit for a minute or two after boiling, aiming for a temperature of around 80°C (175°F).

This gentle heat allows the flavours to unfold without releasing excess tannins — the astringent compounds that make over-brewed tea taste dry and harsh on the tongue.

If your kettle has a variable temperature setting, set it directly to 80°C. Otherwise, the one-to-two-minute rest after boiling is a reliable guide that works in most UK kitchens.

02 — The Vessel

Choose Your Vessel

Pre-warmed ceramic teapot with rising steam

Pre-Warmed

Rinse with hot water before adding the tea bag to maintain steeping temperature.

Covered

Keep the lid on to trap aromatic steam and prevent flavour from escaping.

Clean

Residual flavours from previous brews carry over; wash between uses.

Material

Ceramic retains heat well; glass lets you watch the infusion colour develop.

Whether you use a classic ceramic teapot or a modern glass infuser, ensure your vessel is clean and pre-warmed. Rinsing your cup or pot with a little hot water before brewing helps maintain the temperature during the steeping process. A covered vessel is also recommended to keep the aromatic steam from escaping.

03 — Timing

Steeping Time

Patience is key to a good brew. For Your Fit, we recommend a steeping time of 3 to 5 minutes. A shorter steep will yield a lighter, more refreshing drink, while a longer steep will bring out the deeper, spicier notes of the ginger and dandelion.

Experiment to find the timing that best suits your personal preference. There is no wrong answer within the range — only the flavour profile that you enjoy most.

3min

Light & Refreshing

Brighter herbal notes come forward. A good choice for a morning cup or a warm afternoon.

4min

Balanced

The middle ground. Both the delicate herbs and the warmer spices are present in equal measure.

5min

Deep & Spiced

The ginger and dandelion notes take the lead. A robust cup for a slow evening.

04 — Alternative Method

Cold Brew Method

For a refreshing twist, Your Fit can also be brewed cold. Place two tea bags in a litre of cold water and let it steep in the refrigerator overnight. This method results in a smoother, sweeter infusion that is perfect for staying hydrated during a workout or a warm day.

Cold brewing extracts flavour more gently than hot water. The result is noticeably less bitter and brings out naturally sweet undertones in the herbs that hot brewing can mask. A batch kept in the fridge will hold its flavour for up to 48 hours.

05 — Customisation

Enhancing the Experience

While our tea is designed to be enjoyed plain, some keto practitioners like to add a splash of heavy cream or a teaspoon of MCT oil for an extra energy boost.

If you choose to add fats, use a small frother to emulsify the ingredients, creating a creamy, latte-like texture that remains entirely keto-compliant. The fa helps carry the aromatic compounds, often making the spice notes of the blend more pronounced on the palate.

Start with a small amount — a tablespoon of cream or half a teaspoon of MCT oil — and adjust to taste. Adding too much at once can overwhelm the more delicate herbal elements.

06 — Second Steep

Multiple Infusions

High-quality herbal blends can often be steeped more than once. The second infusion of Your Fit may reveal different flavour nuances that weren't as prominent in the first cup.

Simply add fresh hot water to the used bag and increase the steeping time by a minute or two. The first infusion draws out the most volatile aromatics; the second pulls deeper, earthier notes from the dandelion and ginger root.

A third infusion is possible but will be considerably lighter. If you enjoy a delicate cup, it can be a pleasant way to close the ritual.

Tea packaging stored in a dark cupboard

07 — Storage

Storage for Freshness

To keep your tea bags fresh, keep the packaging tightly sealed and store it away from strong-smelling foods like spices or coffee. Herbs easily absorb surrounding odours, and protecting them ensures that every cup tastes exactly as intended.

A dark cupboard is the ideal environment for your tea collection. Avoid storing it above the kettle or hob, where temperature fluctuations from cooking can degrade the herbs over time. A cool, dry shelf away from direct sunlight will preserve the blend's character for longer.

If you decant into a separate container, choose one with an airtight seal and an opaque finish. Clear glass jars look attractive on a worktop but let in light, which gradually fades the colour and weakens the flavour of the herbs inside.
